The Medical screening is a crucial part of the LEAR Health Assessment. It allows the client and the health partner to analyse body composition data and set specific goals going forward.
Included in the medical screening is a clients'
blood pressure, weight, BMI, Bodyfat%, visceral fat (fat that surrounds vital organs) and waist measurement.
All of these are really important bits of data that are classed as modifiable risk factors to coronary heart disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and strokes to name a few. They are modifiable because with a healthy diet, active lifestyle and refraining from smoking or drinking alcohol to excess we can keep these values within the 'healthy' ranges and reduce our risk of aforementioned diseases.
We also assess muscle mass, bone density, water weight and basal metabolic rate (how many calories your body burns naturally - great if weight loss is a goal). This then creates a health score out of 100 and outlines your metabolic age based on all of the data.
The medical screen, along with the movement screen and our V02 submaximal test complete the comprehensive LEAR health assessment!
