What is the LEAR Health Assessment?
The LEAR Health Assessment examines your current state of health and physical activity levels. By accumulating this information, it will allow us to set you on a journey to review and enhance your lifestyle, we will support you in transforming your health and achieving your goals.
The Assessment and what it involves
2 hour comprehensive combined Health and Physical Assessment divided into 3 parts; Medical Screening, LEAR Movement Screen and Cardiovascular Evaluation, led by your designated Health Partner.
Following 90 minutes of analysis, your Health Partner will then spend 30 minutes presenting your results and outlining their tailored prescription for you. This can include any combination of Physiotherapy, Sports Massage, 1:1 Training or class participation that your Health Partner has determined will be the best way for LEAR to support you to achieve your goals.
After your Assessment, you will remain in direct contact with your Health Partner via email, where they will provide support in keeping you on track with your personalised prescriptive programme.
Before the Assessment
A Health and Physical Activity questionnaire will need to be completed. The questionnaire will contain health related questions, which will highlight any health or lifestyle factors that may have an effect on your current health state. Please wear loose, appropriate clothing to attend the assessment, and we advise no watches or jewellery are worn. You will be asked to wear a Polar heart monitor during the cardiovascular analysis.
Part 1 – Medical Screening Testing
The medical screening tests are done to enable an initial overview of the current level of health and fitness acquired. Your results will be compared to normative data, which will provide an indication of how we can help you to improve. The information for this will be gathered through the following tests:
Part 2 – LEAR Movement Screen
You will be examined on aspects of your movement, flexibility, mobility and body control through a series of 22 different movements.
Part 3 – Cardiovascular evaluation (Aastrand Cycle Test OR 6-minute Walk Test)
The Aastrand Cycle Test or 6 minute Walk Test will be used to examine your current aerobic capacity. The test you are asked to participate in will be dependent on your current functional abilities and any injuries.
Your results and personalised LEAR prescription will be issued at the end of the Health Assessment in the form of face to face feedback and practical teaching. A document presenting your results, prescription and goals agreed upon will also be sent via email or post.
After your Health Assessment, you will stay in direct contact with your Health Partner. By having access to your Health Partners email you can stay in touch, keep us up to date with progress or any concerns or queries you may have with your programme and keep us up to date with any health changes that may take place.
